The ambush of the convoy, claimed by Al-Qaeda, officially killed 37 people, including 27 soldiers. Seventy truck drivers remain missing, according to their union. The disaster has become a symbol of the state's inability to secure remote countryside areas and protect local people, 10 years into a bloody jihadist insurgency in the Sahel region. أنباء انفو- أقال رئيس المجلس الإنتقالي فى بوركينا فاسو النقيب إبراهيم تراوري مساء الجمعة ، رئيس الأركان العامة للجيوش ديفيد كابري ، مباشرة بعد عودته من زيارة عمل إلى موريتانيا.
جاءت الإقالات ضمن مراسيم بثها تلفزيون الحكومة (RTB) وقد تم طبقا لتلك المراسيم تعيين العقيد سيلستين سيمبوري رئيسًا لهيئة الأركان العامة للقوات المسلحة ، ليحل محل العقيد الرائد ديفيد كابري .
كما تم تعين العقيد تيوفيل نيكيما رئيسا لأركان الجيش ليحل محل العقيد آدم نيري .
ولم يتم الكشف عن أسباب هذه التغييرات التى طالت قيادة رأس جيش بوركينا فاسو .
